Athena is a good girl who loves playing with other dogs once she’s had a chance to warm up to them. She is a medium sized dog that would be a great companion for someone who enjoys hiking. She enjoys kids and teens but she just simply doesn’t understand that she can’t run infants and toddlers over.
She’s a great alert dog, as that’s her breed’s job. She’ll bark insistently if someone or something gets to close to your home… which is fine if you live in the country, but not so great when you live in the busy part of town.
Atheea loves attention but she isn’t the “stay at your heel” kind of dog I thought she would be. She has an AMAZING nose and would excel in SAR training if someone took the time with her.
We love her but we can’t have her constantly knocking our babies over and she’s consistently stressed out over so many people walking by our house. She would do best in a rural-type home with fenced property and no small kids. Other dogs and cats are OK, chickens are ok if they are enclosed. (She will not break into the chicken pen and has never killed an escaped chicken, but she will carry them around in her mouth and freak them out.) She’s bred to chase away bears, so she might not do well with larger livestock like horses. However, were not sure.
Please let me know if you’re interested in giving Athena a loving home. I will gladly answer any questions truthfully! I want her to go to the right home.
